It's a time to be merry on the campus of the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Taking the spotlight. children with chronic kidney disease.

The Mississippi Kidney Foundation held it's annual party, featuring Santa, Magician Robert Day, and all kinds of balloon creatures, from Ninja Turtles to Spider Man and even a One-Eyed Monster.

Organizers says the party gives children with a serious condition an outlet to celebrate the holiday season.

"We've been for years and some of these kids we've seen for five, six, seven years," said Gail Sweat with the Mississippi Kidney Foundation. "It's wonderful because they are slowly but surely getting transplants. UMMC is doing great things with transplants here,"

Children being treated for kidney disease suffer various stages of the illness.
