JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott won the Conerly Trophy on Tuesday night after leading the Bulldogs to a 10-win regular season.
The award, which is sponsored by C Spire Wireless, honors the top college football player in Mississippi. Prescott won the award over three other finalists, including Mississippi cornerback Senquez Golson, Delta State quarterback Tyler Sullivan and Alcorn State quarterback John Gibbs Jr.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound Prescott has thrown for 2,996 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season. He's also rushed for 939 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Prescott is also a finalist for the Davey O'Brien award, which honors the nation's top quarterback.
The Conerly Trophy is voted on by a panel of sports media members across the state. Fan voting also accounts for 10 percent of the award.
