JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Fast food workers in Jackson are walking off the job today and demanding a pay increase.

Employees from  McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC, and Domino's are on strike in the shopping plaza at Northbrook Drive and Northside Drive. They will then walk across the street to a McDonald's to protest.

It's part of a national movement, and the latest in the 2 year fight to raise fast-food workers pay to at least $15 an hour and rights to form a union. Many fast food workers make close to the federal minimum wage of $7.25.

In other parts of the country, some airport employees and others making minimum wage will join fast food workers as they strike today.

Organizers say they plan to protest peacefully.

The strike is expected to wrap up around 8:30 am.
