JPD investigates if officer wrote expletive on a parking ticket

Jackson police are investigating an allegation that a parking officer wrote an expletive on a ticket and held it up to a restaurant window after an argument with the chef who owns it.

Reports say La Finestra restaurant owner Tom Ramsey acknowledges using profanities while arguing with the officer.

But he says the officer's conduct was inexcusable.

Ramsey says the argument started when a vendor was ticketed after a few minutes in his restaurant.

He alleges the officer wrote a two-word phrase including a crude word for copulation.

He says nobody in the restaurant photographed the ticket.

Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance says police are investigating whether any policies were violated and any disciplinary action is needed. He says the vendor can appeal the ticket in court.
