Mississippi State will play in the Orange Bowl for the first time since 1941

JACKSON (WLBT) - Mississippi State was in the College Football Playoff conversation in November. The Bulldogs lost two of their last three games, but a trip to Miami is a nice consolation prize.

10-2 MSU will play 10-3 Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl. The game kicks off Wednesday, December 31st at 7:00pm. You can watch the Bulldogs on ESPN.

2014 was a historic season in Starkville. Mississippi State beat three straight top-ten teams, including a victory over defending SEC champion Auburn. College Gameday was in the heart of The Junction for the Bulldogs win over the Tigers. MSU was ranked #1 for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs spent four weeks atop the College Football Playoff, AP, and Coaches polls. MSU finishes the regular season ranked #7 in the College Football Playoff Top 25. They won 10 regular-season games for the first time in program history.

Mississippi State will cap the season with their first Orange Bowl appearance since 1941. It will be their first meeting with Georgia Tech since 2009.
