PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A husband and wife are behind bars after Pearl Police busted them for using and making counterfeit money. It all started Monday when 28-year-old Brittany Chancellor tried to make a purchase at a Pearl store using fake money.

The store clerk called Pearl Police. Minutes later, Police pulled the two over on I-20.

She and her 34-year-old husband Joshua were arrested when police found more than 800 dollars of counterfeit bill inside the couples car.

That's not all police found. Later investigators confiscated a printer, construction paper and glue from the duo's Pearl home.

Captain Brian McGairty says metro area businesses need to be on the lookout for counterfeit money being used.

"Just be mindful of it," said McGairty. "A lot of merchants have the opportunities to use the pens to indicate if it is counterfeit. Likewise, if you see something on there that doesn't look like it should be or it doesn't look real obviously. Notify your bank and local law enforcement agency if you feel like you've been a victim of a counterfeit bill you've received."

The investigation continues and the Secret Service will most likely be assisting Pearl Police. Some of the bills have possibly circulated through other jurisdictions.

The two are charged with forgery, false pretense and Brittany is also charged with possession of paraphernalia.
