JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Working on or during the holidays? Well you are not alone. We talked with a few people who will be clocking in and some who will actually take a well deserved break to observe Christmas.

The work doesn't stop for some. And some television producers enjoy it.

"Working on Christmas day is really not a big deal for me because I love what I do," said the producer. "That's the great thing about having this job. When you love what you do, it doesn't really matter about working."

People get sick, crime happens and some are still shopping. The Family Dollar store on Ellis Avenue was business as usual.

Really really busy," said the store manager. "Shopping, shopping too much. They act like they just started shopping."

The store will be open Christmas Day.

Like Santa's helpers, construction workers were busy bending iron on this blustery Christmas eve day. But not too busy to stop by and spread a little Christmas cheer. In Spanish one worker waved and said "feliz navidad, feliz navidad."

From South Jefferson street we were off to the Jackson Zoological Park to find out what they animals and their helpers were up to. I spoke to a worker in the ticket office.

"Oh yes we have a couple of people in today," he said, adding that the animals will get a holiday break. "Yes they will because we are closed so they will have their own little get together."

The giraffe, ducks and sheep and others will be tucked away for the night, all snug in their beds. Maybe, just maybe, a miniature sleigh with 8 tiny reindeer will appear.

Working or not, we hope you take a moment to enjoy the magic of Christmas.
