A teen is dead after an early morning shooting in Port Gibson Saturday.
Port Gibson Police Chief Calvin Jackson told us 18-year-old Roviel Mayes' body was found around 3:20 a.m. Saturday laying in the street when officers responded to shooting in the area.
We were told Mayes' body was in front of a house located at 1105 Marganal Street in Port Gibson.
Jackson told us a male suspect is in the custody of the Port Gibson Police Department.
Jackson said Mayes was a Vicksburg resident.
We were told the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is also assisting in the case.
"We called MBI out to help collect evidence in the case and help bring this case to justice," Chief Jackson said.
Jackson said the motive for the shooting is under investigation.
