JPD:Shooting suspect known as "Puppy" in custody

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A shooting suspect, sought by JPD, is now in custody according to Officer Colendula Green.

On January 1, officers responded to 327 E. Pascagoula St. regarding a shooting.

 After gathering evidence, an arrest warrant was issued for 35-year-old Jerry Wayne Lewis, AKA "Puppy".  Lewis is wanted for aggravated assault in connection to the shooting that left a 34-year-old victim hospitalized.

We're told that the 34-year-old victim managed to drive himself to JPD headquarters after being shot. 

Investigators said he was struck at least once in the upper torso while sitting in the passenger seat of a gold Buick sedan.

At last check the victim was listed in critical condition at UMC.
