Two people escape early morning house fire

Dreary, drizzly Friday afternoon in the Jackson metro area on this second day of the New Year. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

Two people escaped a fire that destroyed a home on Morton Avenue in Jackson this morning.

A man is being treated for a broken leg at UMMC after being hit by a vehicle at 7:40 last night in a parking lot at North State and Fortification Streets.

Jackson police are searching for a suspected shooter  35-year-old Jerry Wayne Lewis, AKA "Puppy", wanted for aggravated assault. The 34-year-old victim managed to drive himself to JPD headquarters after being shot.

In sports, two Ole Miss commits play in the Under Armour All-America Game and the Associated Press announced their 2014 NFL All-Pro Team and three players with Magnolia State ties were selected to the 2nd team.
