JULIAS FORECAST: Pleasant today before the freeze

Good morning! It was a frozen start- many woke up to temperatures in the 20s. Fortunately our post-sunrise conditions are much more comfortable. Temperatures come up above freezing between 8 and 9am. Afternoon highs will reach the mid 50s, which is seasonable and even pleasant for this time of year.

A cold front moves through today, introducing the arctic air as we head into Wednesday. After another cold and clear start in the 20s our high will only hit the low 40s. For areas farther north (namely in the Delta) the high could be as low as upper 30s. Farther south (near the Louisiana border and Gulf Coast) will come closer to 50.

We'll see the coldest air of the season (so far) on Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. The entirety of the state will come below freezing. Central Mississippi and the Jackson Metro will likely bottom out in the teens. Farther north in the state near the Tennessee border could be as cold as single digits!!!

Much of Thursday will be spent below freezing with a high in the mid 30s. Chilly air in the 40s will stick around through the weekend with clouds and a few showers. We'll be back in the 50s by Monday.
