JULIA'S FORECAST: Deep freeze has settled in

It's here- we're settled into a deep freeze! Morning wake up temperatures in  are as cold as the teens with "feels like" temperatures in the low single digits!!! This is cold enough to create hazardous effects of frostbite if outdoors and unprotected. Pipes without insulation could potentially freeze. We recommend keeping a light drip on the faucet. We'll feel like single digits until around 9am. After that the winds start to ease and become much lighter our of the NE.

Despite the abundant sun we have all afternoon we'll have very few hours above freezing. From about 1pm to 5pm the temps will range from about 32 to 35 degrees. Once the sun goes down (5:12pm) the thermometer will easily begin to plummet again. We'll be in the mid 20s early Friday morning.

There is a slight possibility for icy weather early Friday. Generally in the southwest portion of the state and south of highway 84 there could be some early morning light showers with the potential to freeze onto surfaces. Sleet is also a possibility. We will be monitoring this threat and will continue to update you.

By midday Friday the temperatures will be warm enough that any leftover showers will switch over to rain. Most will be dry on Friday with a high in the upper 30s and low 40s. Another sub-freezing night is expected as we head into Saturday morning with lows in the low 20s.

The weekend will be on the cool side with highs in the low 40s on Saturday and high 40s on Sunday. We'll finally return to seasonable conditions in the mid 50s on Monday with a chance for rain.
