JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

House Judiciary B Chairman, Representative Andy Gipson, says they will not take action on the bill that would define pit bulls as dangerous dogs.

Gipson says he has spoken with the bill's author about the firestorm of controversy the proposal created and they decided there are clear fundamental and Constitutional issues concerning the legislation.

Gipson says there is not time to fix it.

“I made the decision not to bring House Bill 1261 up for a vote in committee, said Gibson. "And it will die in committee next week.”
