RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Ridgeland police are hoping the public can help in catching three credit card thieves.  They've been operating in the area since December according to investigators.  So far there have been three victims.

Police say those victims came to them after they noticed fraudulent charges on their bank statements.

Police then determined where those purchases occurred, and then released the surveillance video of a black male and female, as well as the Asian male who they say are involved.

Investigators say they were using stolen bank information to create the fake credit cards, which they used to buy gift cards.  So far they made about $2,000.00 in fraudulent purchases at Walmart on Wheatley, the Rite Aid on highway 51, and Walgreens on Old Canton Road.

"It's the process of getting and identifying the information to put on these cards is where we're trying to link back into a common spot," said Lt. John Neal. "Skimmers are very popular now in places where you can swipe these cards that extracts the information off the good card, stores it till the skimmers sold on the black market somewhere."

The three suspects are facing charges of credit card fraud and identity theft. Police aren't sure how they're getting the victims banking information. They could be using skimmers which read your card number when you swipe it.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call Ridgeland police at 601-856-5210
or Crimestoppers at 601-355-8477.
