JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Police say a man who was attacked at a Jackson Waffle House has died.

52- year-old Eric Hambrick was found lying on the ground at the Waffle House on High street Thursday night.

Hambrick was hospitalized and died over the weekend from his injuries.

After reviewing a surveillance video at the business, police said Hambrick was attacked in the parking lot.

The video shows someone striking Hambrick, then taking a ring off his finger.

Chief Lee Vance said,

"Right now were know were dealing with one suspect, a male.  We believe that the images the video show that individual striking the deceased and also there are images where it appears his ring is being taken off this finger."

Right now Hambrick's death is being ruled as a questionable death, but will likely be upgraded to capital murder, once investigators gather more facts in the case.

Police say there were no witnesses to the crime.

Hambrick was employed at the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, and spent his free time, singing with local choral groups, and acting with several playhouses.

Sherry Boyer, a friend who sang alongside Hambrick said,

"He was talented, he was always there, willing to share and he always made the world a little bit better place to be."

Anyone with information is asked to call Jackson Police.
