HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree will return to Forrest County Circuit Court Thursday to find out the consequences of being found in civil contempt of a court order.
DuPree was cited by Special Judge L. Breland Hilburn for failing to bring administrative nominees forward in a timely fashion for City Council confirmation.
Ironically, one of the names that helped ignite the conflagration leading to the courtroom appearance, has been suggested to fill the lone unconfirmed position, bearing a title he supposedly already holds.
In a letter hand-delivered to DuPree and the city's five councilmen Monday afternoon, Assistant Chief of Police Frank Misenhelter asked that Frazier Bolton be returned to an everyday role as chief of police.
