CANTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Local religious leaders and employees at Nissan's Canton plant say the company's drug test policies are sending workers packing when they've done nothing wrong.

Earlier Saturday, dozens gathered outside the Canton plant to protest what they call intimidation practices by Nissan when it comes to union discussion.

Employees we talked to stopped short of saying those tactics involved the drug tests for pro-union workers.

We're told at least three Nissan workers either resigned or were let go because of the drug test failure this year.

Morris Mock: "Once you have doubt, once a person gets a second drug test, and Nissan decides not to listen, then it becomes calculated."

Nissan North America Spokesman Justin Saia released this statement to FOX 40 in response to the drug test allegations.

"Nissan is committed to health and safety in the workplace and maintains a zero-tolerance policy for substance abuse. Positive drug tests result in termination. Analysis is completed by a third-party vendor certified through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services."
