LEAKE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A warrant has been issued for the man responsible for the deadly shooting in Walnut Grove over the weekend.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of 47-year-old Luke Barton, who is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault on Donald and Addie Johnson.

He is also being charged for the murder of his estranged wife, Tonya Johnson Barton.

Donald Johnson received two gunshot wounds; one to the thigh and another to his toe. We're told he also shot at Addie Johnson.

Tonya Johnson Barton was shot several times, including twice in the head.

Luke Barton was shot in the chest and is currently being detained by the University Hospital Police until he is released. He will then be transferred to the Leake County Jail.

Leake County Sheriff Greg Waggoner says it started from a family dispute.

"What transpired here (Saturday) is a tragedy for our community, and what caused it, we don't know," Waggoner says. Waggoner also says the couple had been estranged for some time.

Family members say Tonya Johnson Barton saw her husband, Luke Barton pull up to the home, angry and started firing shots.

"When he pulled back up to the scene, he just got out and started shooting and everything, it surprised me," says Corey Johnson, cousin of the victim.

Family members also say her father was at the home with her 17-year-old son.

Walnut Grove Police and Leake County Deputies responded to the home on Main Street shortly after 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
