VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Dozens of potential job seekers in the River City learned about millions of dollars in jobs and where to find them this weekend.

Around 130 people came to the Emerging Business Summit Saturday to learn about the procurement process and compete for these future jobs.

Plan B Financial Solutions sponsored the event, which included speakers from the local, state and national stage, like U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson.

"As we all know, opportunity is everywhere, but we also have to remember that opportunity is like rainfall. Once it hits the ground, it evaporates," said Sasha el Castro, the organization's director of financial development. "You have to get involved, and that's what we did. We gave them the tools to get involved early, so that they are indeed prepared."

These jobs range from construction to paving work, even opportunities with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

El Castro said it's estimated more than 76 million dollars' worth of jobs will be created or established in Vicksburg over the next few years.
