Parental kidnapping suspect back in this country

A Rankin County woman is back in this country facing a kidnapping charge. Thirty-eight year-old Jennifer Houff appeared in federal court in Jackson Monday.

She is accused of taking her son from Flowood in March, 2012 to Cairo, Egypt. A federal warrant for international parental kidnapping was issued for her April 13, 2012.

FBI spokesman, Special Agent Jason Pack, told us Monday night agents worked with the Rankin County Sheriff's Department through the FBI Legal Attache's office in Cairo, as well as the Justice and State Departments to bring Houff back to Mississippi.

Her son will be 16 years old in just a few weeks. Pack says the State Department receives approximately 12 international parental kidnapping cases each year.

Houff was released on bond after her court appearance.

Donald Alway, Special Agent in Charge of FBI in Mississippi said, “The far-reaching resources of the FBI and the Department of Justice were instrumental in locating and facilitating the safe return of both the accused and the victim”.
