User friendly telemedicine looking to expand in Mississippi

CANTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Mosby's Drug Store in Canton has entered the world of cutting edge technology. Through TelehealthOne, it is offering a Walk-in Medical Clinic to its customers.

"Number one benefit is we are actually here, real time, ready to see you, whether it's face to face or over here on the screen," said Heather Mangum, TelehealthOne Chief of Nursing.  "Also, you are in and out in less than 30 minutes."

Mangum says the set up at Mosby's Drug Store is one of the first in the state, but she says the service will be expanding quickly in several types of venues, such as nursing homes, work places, and more.

We actually have a technician who is sitting here, able to relay whatever we need," she said. "In the middle of the visit I can actually do the electronic health record and know what's going on with you. I'm able to assess, diagnose and treat and in the meantime, I'm able to send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choosing."

Mangum says the patients best suited for the service are people experiencing health concerns that are not chronic.

"If they are here and we see that they need to see a regular physician for hypertension. They came in. They are diagnosed," added Magnum. "We are not going to continue to treat that hypertension. We're referring you to a physician so that you will continue to be seen."
