Mission Mississippi plans prayer, conversation after S.C. church shooting

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - As shock waves from the Charleston Massacre continue across the nation, Mission Mississippi is responding with prayer and conversation.

Organizers say many people are disturbed and wonder how they should respond.

Mission Mississippi announced they will host a time of prayer and conversation and share ways Mississippians can help further racial healing and reconciliation in their community.

"You have those human emotions that come up with hate and anger and those kind of things and so we have to allow the power of God to overshadow those things that we can do what the Bible says for us to do and have a Biblical response," said Mission Mississippi President Neddie Winters. "So our time here today is to help people have that Biblical response; challenge them to do that and also give them a way to practically apply that."

The time of Prayer and Conversation takes place this Saturday from 8 am until noon at Pearl Street AME Church, 2519 Robinson Street in Jackson.

It's a free event and open to the public.
