MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Madison County residents were shaken awake Monday morning. A 3.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded by the U-S-G-S at 8:23. The earthquake was very similar to two others felt be residents last month.

The epicenter was also in the same place, on the Nissan plant property in Canton.

"I was making breakfast and felt the whole house shake," said Jessica Buck. "We felt the other one last month too."

Two earthquakes were recorded in May in almost the same exact spot.  One measured 3.2, the other, 3.0.  Monday's earthquake had a 3.2 magnitude and was not followed by an aftershock like the one back in May.

Children who felt the tremors were perplexed.

"It was scary because it was my first earthquake," said Alex Litchliter. "It just shook the whole house and her grandmother came running in like, did yall feel the earthquake?"

Madison county officials say they've checked, and found no structural damage or injuries.  The tremors felt as far south as I-220 and Watkins drive in Jackson.

"I've been in California and I've been in an earthquake but it wasn't nothing like that," said Samuel Preston, who lives less than a mile from the epicenter. It was just you don't intend for your house to move."
