If you're looking for a fun family event this July 4th weekend, here are a few happening in the Jackson Metro and surrounding areas:

Red, White, & Blue Day at The Jackson Zoo

Celebrate July 4th at the Jackson Zoo on Saturday by wearing red, white, and blue for a $4 admission. 

Bring your family and friends out to enjoy the zoo between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

4th of July Celebration at the Mississippi Children's Museum

The Mississippi Children's Museum is celebrating red, white and YOU!

Join them for their annual 4th of July Celebration on Saturday, July 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Take home red, white and blue pompoms. Children will paint with pipe-cleaners and glitter “sparklers.”

Visitors can sign their “John Hancock” on custom designed “scratch art” and cool off outside on the C-Spire Plaza Splash Pad. Don’t forget your towel.

Canton Gospel Fest Homecoming

The Gospel Fest will be at the Historic Canton Square on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The performers include Ashford Sanders, The Expressions of Faith, Shelly Greer, The Brothers In Christ, Divine Encounter, Shemar & Quan Books and The EnPsalmble.

The event is free and open to the public. Performances will begin at 6:00 p.m. Bring a lawn chair.

July 4th Parish Picnic

The picnic will be held at the football field sidelines on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Richard Catholic School in Jackson.

You can bring food or purchase hotdogs and hamburgers from the Knights of Columbus.

There will pony rides for the children and fireworks at dark.

Blankets and chairs are welcome.

Independence Day Celebration

Celebrate July 4th with the Mississippi Braves at Trustmark Park on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

The game will be against the Jackson Generals.

Tickets are $8 to $15 and are available on Ticketmaster.

Fireworks will follow after the game.

Summer Family Fun Night

Families enjoy an evening of entertainment, karaoke and activities from local retailers with a different theme each week.

The family fun night will be every Friday until July 31.

Friday activities will start at 6:00 p.m. and the Saturday activities will start at 6:00 p.m.

Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Fest

Dozens of colorful hot air balloons will lead a fun filled weekend for children and adults of all ages.

This four-day event will include competitive balloon races, two spectacular balloon glows, two incredible firework displays, a Run/Walk with hot air balloons, children's activities, great food and great entertainment.

The balloon fest will be at the Canton Multipurpose Complex in Canton. 

This is a free event that will taking place Thursday, July 2nd to Sunday, July 5th.

Cruisin' Clinton Bike Ride and Family Fireworks Extravaganza

Bring the entire family to Clinton's Traceway Park to join the biggest and best Independence Day party in the metro area, the 26th Annual Family Fireworks Extravaganza.

Check-ins for the bike ride will begin at 6:30 a.m. The 62-mile ride will begin at 7:30 a.m., the 28-mile ride will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the 11-mile ride will begin at 8:30 a.m.

All registered participants will receive a post-ride lunch from Chick-fil-a along with a t-shirt.

The price of registration is $35 and on-site registration will be available at 6:30 a.m. as well.

The fireworks show will be free admission and $8 for parking.

Gates for the fireworks show will open at 3:30 p.m.

Mississippi Family Fest

There will be a family-friendly event that will be taking place in Jackson at Livingston Park on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

There will be children activities, food, and a fireworks display.

Admission for the fest will be free.

Madison Family Fireworks

The town of Madison will be celebrating July 4, with a fireworks display at Liberty Park starting at 9:00 p.m.

Fourth of July Party

Come out to the 8th annual July 4th party at the Old House Depot in Jackson.

Old House Depot is located on 639 Monroe Street.

It will include food from The Feathered Cow and Arender Tomatoes and music from the Southern Komfort Brass Band. T

This event will be happening from 5: p.m. to 8: p.m. and admission is free.

F. Jones Corner Back Yard Bluez Festival featuring Dexter Allen

Backyard Bluez Festival featuring Dexter Allen with free BBQ while it lasts on Saturday night starting at 11 p.m.

F. Jones Corner is located at 303 North Farish Street.

Dexter will hit the stage in the backyard at midnight.

Bring your lawn chairs. No coolers allowed.
