SMITH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Smith County Sheriff investigators have arrested two people in the beating death of 90-year-old Mims Bowen. Thirty-five year old Bruce "Buddy" Keys and 37-year-old Marsha Gholar are both charged with Capital Murder. Both are from Smith County.

Crumpton says the two were robbing Bowen when he was beaten to death June 24 in his home on Highway 540, west of Raleigh.

Gholar was sentenced in 2011 for possession of contraband inside a prison. She was a guard at the Marion Walthall Correctional Facility when she was charged with delivering a cell phone to an inmate. Public documents last her status as on "probation" with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Sheriff Crumpton says the suspects were arrested around ten Sunday morning, and credits the arrests to a partial vehicle description and many hours of old fashioned police work.
