Miss Mississippi 2015- Winning Is A Dream Come True

Hannah Roberts graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a major in Chemistry. 

She plans to work as a pediatric plastic reconstructive surgeon helping children who have cancer, birth defects or those involved in devastating accidents. 

Roberts said, "a lot of that has to do with me being pretty sick as a child. I mean it was nothing serious, no hospitalization but always had asthma, respiratory problems, pneumonia."The new Miss Mississippi has studied violin since she was 5 years old. She won playing the same piece Gretchen Carlson, Miss America 1989 played to capture the national title. She now prepares to take the runway in Atlantic City.

Roberts told us, "there will be a very quick 2 to 3 months of prep before Atlantic City so there will be lots of interview practice, talent practice."

Community and family support mean everything to the contestants who participate in Miss Mississippi. Roberts says her support system including her mother, who attended the first official news conference, stayed plugged in all week.

Roberts said, "there were so many viewing parties, and so many people who were sending texts and messages and have prayed throughout the week."

Roberts wins a 10 thousand dollar scholarship, the use of a car, wardrobe and other gifts. The Miss Mississippi Corporation provided more than 1.3 million dollars in scholarships this year.We will keep you posted on the dates and times for the annual trunk show when Miss Mississippi will reveal some of the items she will take to the Miss America pageant and what she will play at the national competition.
