Former Flora Police Chief accused of sex crimes with children at daycare

FLORA, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

58-year-old James Alderman, a Flora police officer, was arrested on Wednesday and appeared in court Thursday morning on charges of child molestation.

He is charged with two counts of gratification of lust. Bond is set at $800,000 for the 25 year veteran and former chief of the Flora Police Department. 

Alderman's two victims are 3 and 6 years old. The incidents occurred sometime between December 2014 and January 8, 2015.

The affidavit says that Alderman "handled, touched or rubbed with his hands, mouth and penis."

His wife, Lori, runs a daycare out of their home on Wilder Drive in Flora, where the victims were allegedly violated. 

The District Attorney believes there could be more victims.

The case will be presented to a grand jury and the investigation in ongoing.
