JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Confederate flag symbol, while drawing criticism from some, still draws quite a profit for others. One Jackson businesswoman says demand hasn't let up since debate over the Confederate battle flag began more than two weeks ago.

"Some of the specific items and specific sizes are on back order," said Brenda McIntyre, co-owner of A Complete Flag Source.

That being said, carrying the flags in various forms isn't as easy as it sounds. McIntyre said they've become harder to find since the debate surged last month.

"Part of it is, there's a huge demand, so the immediate supply went pretty quickly," McIntyre said. "And then, we have had a few of our manufacturers that are not going to be producing the battle flag currently."
Still, the demand isn't showing any signs of slowing down. The experience reminds McIntyre of the last time flags with Confederate symbols sold like crazy.14 years ago.

"When we had the referendum for the state of Mississippi flag, we had another surge," said McIntyre.

Will voters decide to change Mississippi's flag in the coming months?

McIntyre says it could happen, but those who still love the Magnolia State's banner won't have to worry.

"Then it will become a historic flag, just like the flag of the Magnolia is, and just like all the other flags that have flown over the state of Mississippi, so it will always be available," added McIntyre.
