All northbound lanes of I-220 at Watkins Drive are now clear from the accident involving a JPD officer.
The officer hit uneven pavement and was thrown from the bike.
Officer Colendula Green said, "To my knowledge when he hit the pavement he was thrown from his traffic bike, he suffered minor injuries but who is to say he still has to be checked out internally."
Passing motorists came to the officers aid before paramedics arrived to transport the officer to the hospital.
The officer identified as Eric Redmond, is a 7 year JPD veteran.
He suffered scratches to his knees, but no known broken bones.
Officer Colendula Green said,"Uneven pavement, gravel, other objects in the road can be a large problem for motorcyclist, so we have to have all eyes when we ride on two wheels."
Although there are signs warning motorcyclists of the uneven pavement, and the speed limit has been reduced, to can still be hard to adjust for the sudden change in road conditions.
Luckily for Officer Eric Redmond, his motorcycle training helped him avoid serious injury.
