July 9, 2002: Geyser Falls water park opens at the Pearl River Resort in Neshoba County. The $20 million park had twelve slides and about 200 employees when it opened. It was the latest addition to the growing complex that included the Silverstar casino and the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club.

The Golden Moon casino and hotel would open later that year.

All these developments were the result of a new focus on economic-growth opportunities seized by Choctaw Chief Phillip Martin and his administration, and they pumped a lot of much-needed cash into the Choctaw economy.
