Former Wingfield Falcon Oliver Black transfers to Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK ( – Little Rock head coach Chris Beard has announced the addition of transfer forward Oliver Black (6-9, 225). Black will sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules after playing his freshman season at Mississippi State.
"Oliver is a great player with a proven background from playing in the SEC," MBA Hoops' Omar Carter said. "He will be a great asset to the Little Rock program as he was to the MBA Hoops program. We wish him all the best in this venture as he follows the steps of past MBA Hoops Alumni, Isaac Wells who also played in the state of Arkansas."
Black appeared in 31 games and made four starts at Mississippi State in 2014-15. He scored 56 points and grabbed 75 rebounds to go along with 12 steals and eight blocked shots on the season. Black finished the season shooting 48.9 percent from the floor for the Bulldogs.
He recorded season highs of nine points against McNeese State on Dec. 30 and seven rebounds against Vanderbilt on Jan. 17. In the SEC Tournament vs. Auburn, he posted four points and two rebounds in 20 minutes of play.
Black played his senior season of high school basketball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., where he averaged 14.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game. As a junior at Wingfield HS, Black averaged 10.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks. He was named the MVP of the 2013 North-South All-Star Game after scoring 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Black plans to major in communications.
