30 children will be sleeping the night away courtesy of Mattress Direct
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Dozens of children will be getting a better night’s sleep this summer thanks to a comforting donation from a local mattress retailer.
Today, 30 children in need from the Metro Area will receive a brand new Tempur-Pedic mattress, courtesy of Mattress Direct and Tempur-Pedic. This donation was the first of many by the company for children in need throughout the region.
The mattress give-away will be at 2 p.m. on Airport Road in Pearl.
“At Mattress Direct, we understand how blessed we are by this community, and in that, we wanted to be a blessing to others,” said Allyson Hingle of Mattress Direct.
“Tempur-Pedic has really stepped up to help us be able to provide these children with a mattress conducive to help these young people sleep better and be more productive in their day-to-day tasks of learning and developing, Hingle continued.”
Studies have shown that most kids need at least nine hours of sleep per night in order to be productive the next day.
Carol Burger, President/CEO of United Way of the Capital Area, said this donation will have lasting effects. “We think that the children who receive these mattresses and their families will benefit greatly from this generous gift. Mattress Direct is demonstrating the power of our corporate community here in the Metro Area.”
Mattress Direct selected United Way as their mission of choice for the donation distribution within Jackson, Mississippi Metro Area as well as New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
