JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jermaine Wilson is back behind bars after a brief escape from the Hinds County Detention with three other inmates. Three years ago he was arrested for raping and killing his aunt, Odessa McGee. Now, the public defender's office wants a mental evaluation.

McGee's family members tell 3-On-Your-Side they are outraged justice still hasn't been served and that Wilson had a taste of freedom.

"Escape, yes it was a slap in the face that he had escaped, said Jeffrey McGee. "I was thinking maybe he had gone to jail but two years 7 months later I seen him out."

"You know, we can't prosecute this person unless they are found competent or incompetent," said Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith.
Jermaine Wilson's trial date is tentatively set for September 14th.
