CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

In Clinton beginning at 11:00 A.M. on Sunday, restaurants, convenience stores and grocery stores may begin selling beer and light wine.

On Thursday, the Board of Aldermen voted to amend the city’s beer and light wine ordinance to allow the sale of beer and light wine between the hours of 11:00 A.M. and midnight on Sunday.

The amended ordinance allows restaurants to sell beer and light wine by the glass.

Additionally, the amended ordinance allows for the sale of beer and light wine in grocery and convenience stores.

Mayor Fisher and the Board have petitioned the Alcohol Beverage Commission of the Department of Revenue for the right to sell distilled spirits and wine on Sunday.
