JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Officials evacuated the Marriott Hotel in downtown Jackson after a dumpster fire Sunday afternoon.

Cell phone video of the blaze was taken by one of the hotel employees.
The fire started around 2:30 Sunday afternoon.
A witness says she came out and noticed a number of boxes on fire inside a dumpster at the rear of the Marriott.

"I just walked outside to smoke a cigarette and some boxes were on fire and a guy tried to put them out but he couldn't get to them fast enough so we both had to run out of there because it was a lot of smoke," said Kristen McGee.

That fire also set off the sprinkler system inside the Mississippi Department of Education headquarters.
The Central High school building will be temporarily closed with employees being told to stay at home until Wednesday. All other MDE employees are to report to work as usual

No was was injured at the fire.
Crews worked in the heat to successfully put it out.
