CANTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The scorching heat didn't stop a group of Nissan employees from giving back to the community Wednesday.  They spent the day building not one, but two Habitat for Humanity houses.

The homes are being built simultaneously on Coleman Street in Canton for two families.

Mylinda Phillips was excited and grateful to the volunteers helping make her dream of owning a home become a reality.

"I'm going to pinch myself because I'm still thinking, OK wait, I'm going to wake up in a minute," said Phillips. "I am very grateful."

Volunteers from the community will also join Nissan employees building the two homes.

"It's an amazing experience to be a blessing to someone else," said Nissan employee Christina Doss.

The home is expected to be complete by September.
