JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Polling places across the state are opened and elected officials are urging everyone who is registered to vote to make it to the polls between 7 am and 7 pm.

When you head to vote remember that you must choose a party and pick a Democratic or Republican Party ballot. Today's ballots include state offices, District Attorney, county offices, such as sheriff, coroner and county district offices, including supervisor and constable.

Election officials want to remind voters to make sure your vote counts by voting at the correct precinct.

"There are so many of us that vote, continue to vote where we grew up, where we initially registered to vote with mom and dad and we just go back there," says Jacqueline Amos, Democratic Party MS Field Director. "But we've moved, so we're actually voting out of district which honestly is against the law."

If you have questions about where you are registered to vote or have problems at the polls, you can contact the Republican or Democratic Party OR contact the Secretary of State.

Also, you can use the polling place locator on the SOS website OR call your county circuit clerk for information on where you are registered to vote.
