JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A month long investigation by the Mississippi Attorney General's Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, along with Detectives from the Mississippi and Louisiana Gaming Commissions and the Warren County Sheriff's Office ended with the arrest of a Gulfport man for child pornography.

65-year-old Russell Haley was arrested on August 6 at the Diamond Jacks Casino in Vicksburg for possession of child pornography following warrants obtained by the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit.

The investigation uncovered that Haley has been visiting hotel casinos throughout Mississippi and Louisiana over the last several months using a different name when checking into the Casino hotel in an attempt to mask his identity.

Haley used the hotel's free Wi-Fi to download hundreds of child sexual abuse images.

The Louisiana and Mississippi Gaming Commissions obtained the guest registry for the dates Haley was downloading these images from several Casino Hotels.  The hotel's guest registry lists were compared and it was discovered that Haley was the only person checked into the hotel during this 7 month time frame.

Haley used the free Wi-Fi at the Diamond Jacks Casino in Vicksburg on Wednesday, August 5, to download more illegal images. With the cooperation of the Diamond Jacks Casino personnel, investigators in Louisiana and Mississippi were able to quickly verify that Haley was a guest of this hotel.

Authorities searched Haley's hotel room and found many images of child pornography on his laptop computer, thumb drives and optical discs.

Attorney General Jim Hood said, “The work with our office and ICAC agencies partnering with other state agencies should assure all child predators that we will catch them and put them behind bars no matter where they go. I hope this arrest will serve as a warning to other criminals doing the same and they realize we will come after anyone downloading child porn in our state.”

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace added, “When multiple agencies share information and work together toward a common goal everyone wins except the criminal. I hope this case will send a clear message that this type of criminal behavior and those that commit it are not welcome in Warren County.”

Haley was arrested and charge with 50 counts of possession of child pornography.  Two of the charges are in Mississippi and the other 48 charges are in Louisiana.

Authorities say when Haley was arrested he had several fraudulent pieces of identification, including fake passports.

Haley is being held in the Warren County Jail. His bond has been set at 2 million dollars.  If convicted, he faces up to 80 years behind bars.
