RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

23-year-old Simeon Maurice Herrod was arrested by Ridgeland Police Officers at a traffic stop, Wednesday.

This came after police discovered that his clothing matched the description of a recent armed robbery suspect that held up the Menchie's Frozen Yogurt on Lake Harbor Drive.

That robbery happened at 9:20 PM on Monday.

Herrod had reportedly stolen money from the cashier and ran out the back door of Menchie's.

When Ridgeland Police searched the vehicle Herrod was in, they found a Smith and Wesson small caliber firearm, identified as the firearm stolen during auto burglaries in Canterbury on Saturday, August 8.

The suspect was taken into custody on the charge of Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Traffic Offenses.

Authorities later charged Herrod with Armed Robbery of Menchie's Frozen Yogurt.

To the authorities' surprise, this was not his first offense at Menchie's.

Police also discovered that he had robbed the fro yo spot in December of 2014.

He is currently being held on no bond at the Madison County Detention Center.
