Gang Member Sentenced in Gulf Coast Drug Case

An associate of the Black Gangsta Disciples street gang will serve five years in prison and pay a $5,000 fine for his transporting meth to George County for distribution.
The Sun Herald reports U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden also ordered 35-year-old Jamalia Nix, of Mobile, Alabama, to serve three years under post-release supervision on a charge of interstate travel in aid of racketeering. In exchange for his plea, the remaining charges were dropped. Records show Nix brought meth from Texas to George County.
Federal prosecutors say Nix was among nine Black Gangsta Disciples street gang members or associates indicted on charges of conspiracy to distribute meth and other charges in the case.
With Nix's sentence, the case is officially closed. All defendants have been convicted and are now serving time.
