Wednesday's Child- Rebekah

When we met this week's Wednesday's Child in December she was just a few days from her 16th birthday.  Rebekah was looking forward to being sweet 16 and the only thing that would top it, is having a permanent family.

Rebekah says she is a little bit shy, but she can be a rebel.

Rebekah said, “I’m very outgoing. If I want to do something, even if it’s like positive or negative, sometimes if it’s negative I’ll think of all the pros and cons too.”

She is athletic and has two favorite sports.

Rebekah told us, “I’ve been playing soccer since I was in 6th grade, and I’ve played volley ball since I was in 7th grade.”

Rebekah is also a fan of mud riding on four wheelers and enjoys hunting.

Rebekah explained, “I just always went mud riding in the middle of the winter. And you didn’t mind getting the mud all over you?  No I didn’t mind.”

If she has it her way Rebekah wants to get a G.E.D. to skip her senior year in high school and go to a community college. She is planning a career in Graphic Design.

Rebekah said, “if I get my GED then I can go to college in August.”

Rebekah says she has been in foster care almost 5 years.

Rebekah told us, “I’m just tired of being in group home after group home, facility after facility. I’m just ready to be stable and not have to look over and say oh my God where are they gonna ship me off to next. Where are they gonna put me next?”

She is trying to remain hopeful of finding a forever family.

Rebekah said, “like I don’t want to be adopted because nobody wants me and like I have been just going through that struggle for the past 2 years and hopefully if I do get a family that will actually say like.. hey I want her!  Then I will do my darnedest to make it work out.”
