CANTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A teenager, missing since Saturday, was found outside a house in Canton, partially nude.

When officers responded to the scene Wednesday they found a man's body inside the house.

Chief Otha Brown says a passerby found the partially clothed 16-year-old in the driveway of 330 Martin Luther King Drive. Residents say the house was vacant.

Around 4 pm, officers entered the home and discovered the man's body. MBI was called to assist when Canton investigators smelled a strong odor, like gas, in the house.

Brown identifies the man as James Blackmon. His age was not given.

Investigators said there were no obvious signs of trauma.

The teenager was reportedly beaten and sexually assaulted, but the chief would not confirm that information.

"He was found on the bedroom floor there face down, said Chief Brown. "Neighbors have said that it was abandoned and the gentleman was there trying to revitalize the house there. He's planning to move back in so he was doing some work here to the house."

The teen's mother arrived at the scene and accompanied her by ambulance to UMMC.

Authorities said the girl was conscious when she was transported but her condition is not known at this time.

Investigators are still trying to determine the connection between the discovery of the missing teen and the dead man.
