STARKVILLE (HailState.com) – Mississippi State linebacker Gerri Green was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Freshman Team in a vote by the league’s coaches, the conference announced Thursday. With the selection, Green became the 12th Bulldog in seven years under head coach Dan Mullen to be named to the team.
Green played in all 12 regular season games this fall, tallying 44 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one interception. His 44 stops ranked fifth for an SEC freshman and third among freshman linebackers.
Every player under Mullen who has been named All-SEC Freshman has gone on to sign an NFL contract following their collegiate playing career.
The Greenville, Mississippi, native returns to action Wednesday, Dec. 30, as the Maroon and White battle N.C. State in the Belk Bowl.
