Mississippi wins over Alabama 28-21 in All-Star Game

A.J. Brown and DeKaylin Metcalf each caught two touchdown passes as Mississippi beat Alabama 28-21 on Saturday in the 29th annual Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Football Classic.

The game was the first in the series to be played in Mississippi and the state's first win since 2007, snapping a seven-game Alabama winning streak.

Brown, who played at Starkville High School, had nine catches for 137 yards, including touchdowns of 35 and 17 yards. Metcalf, who has verbally committed to play at Ole Miss after finishing his prep career at Oxford, finished with five catches for 151 yards, with touchdowns of 69 and 32 yards.

The two shared Most Valuable Player honors for Mississippi.

Alabama's defense kept it close by grabbing three interceptions, including a pair by Hoover's Patrick Hall and another that Gordo linebacker Benjamin Davis returned 76 yards for a touchdown.
