COLUMBUS, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Police say one person was taken to the hospital following a Sunday night shooting outside a community center in Columbus.

According to the Columbus Police Department's Twitter account, the shooting happened at the Townsend Community Center on the south side of the city. A birthday party was being held inside the center at the time of the shooting. Police say the party was not related to the shooting.

Witnesses say two males were involved in a confrontation in the parking lot over a woman when the shots were fired.

Officers report they have arrested one person and are looking for a second. They add no one inside the community center was hurt and that the shooting scene is secure.

The gunfire led to the Mississippi University for Women being placed on lockdown, but that lockdown has since been lifted.
