Veteran City of Flowood Police Officer dies at age 57

FLOWOOD, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Flowood Police Chief Richie McCluskey confirmed  57-year-old Veteran Officer Leonard Redd passed away December 19.

Chief McCluskey said Officer Redd died due to complications of biliary pancreatitis following several weeks hospitalized in ICU.

“Officer Redd served the Flowood Police Department with dignity and honor for 16 distinguished years and his presence will be greatly missed," McCluskey said.

“Officer Redd was the Officer who would go above and beyond the call of duty to help his fellow officer’s and the public each and every day. The Flowood police family stands beside Officer Redd have loved ones, as we all feel the effects of losing such a wonderful member," McCluskey added.

Officer Redd was a 24-year veteran officer and begin his career with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Deputy prior to joining the Flowood force where he was assigned to the traffic unit and was promoted posthumous to Corporal.

Funeral arrangements include a visitation on Monday, December 21 at Deans Memorial Funeral Home located at 745 Hwy. 468 Brandon, MS from 2-6 p.m.

Redd's funeral will be held Tuesday, December 22 at Pinelake Church located at 6071 Hwy 25, Flowood, MS at 11:00 with graveside service following at Deans Memorial Funeral Home.
