MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

To say Alton Brown knows a lot about food is probably an understatement. So when one of the biggest food personalities in America recommends places to eat, you want to listen.

Brown recently appeared on “The Eater Upsell” podcast, a show that discusses food with food personalities.

On the show, hosted by Greg Morabito and Helen Rosner, Brown said his number one food town in America is Memphis, Tennessee.

“I've got to say, Memphis, Tennessee: probably my number one food town in the U.S,” Brown said.

Brown showed love to local Memphis restaurants Gibson’s, Gus’s and Dyer’s.

“Gibson's freaking doughnuts, man. Outside of Memphis proper is this doughnut place called Gibson's, which makes not just the best doughnut in the United States but, as far as I'm concerned, if all the other doughnuts went away and I still had Gibson's, I'd be okay. They've also got the best chicken, and maybe the best hamburger in the United States. So, Memphis good.”

He mentioned Gus’s as the best chicken and Dyer’s on Beale Street for their burgers.

Brown is a veteran on the Food Network, where he has hosted popular shows such as Good Eats, Iron Chef America and Cutthroat Kitchen.
