JACKSON (HailState.com) — After getting back in the win column with a victory against Tulane, Mississippi State turns its attention to first-time opponent Northern Colorado Wednesday in Jackson’s Mississippi Coliseum.
Tip is set 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on SEC Network. Dave Neal Jon Sundvold ill provide the television commentary, while fans can tune in to Jim Ellis and Richard Williams on the MSU Radio Network.
It’s a return home for current roster players Carter Holmes, Malik Newman, Fred Thomas and Quinndary Weatherspoon, along with graduate assistant coach Jalen Courtney.
In the win against Tulane, Newman paced MSU (5-5) with 15 points. Craig Sword and Gavin Ware also recorded double-digit efforts with 14 and 12 points, respectively, while Ware hauled in a team-best nine rebounds.
Defensively, MSU limited the Tulane offense in the second half, including over a 5-minute scoring drought in which the Bulldogs turned a nine-point deficit into a six-point advantage.
Although Wednesday’s matchup will serve as the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Bears, MSU claims a 5-3 record against members of the Big Sky Conference, including a 106-88 win over Eastern Washington in the season opener.
Dallas Anglin has a team-best 20.0 points per game, while Anthony Johnson compliments the offense with jis 16.3 clip.
The Bears, who fell to 3-8 following Tuesday’s 79-76 less at Jacksonville State, also boast a .389 3-point field goal percentage, which is best in the league.
Following Wednesday’s game, the Bulldogs return to Humphrey Coliseum for a New Year’s Eve matchup against North Carolina Central at 1 p.m. before beginning SEC play against Texas A&M on Jan. 6.
