No injuries reported after Clinton movie theater evacuation

CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Friday night a Clinton movie theater had to be evacuated because of a possible fire.

Mark Jones, Communications Director for the City of Clinton, confirmed there was smoke in the movie theater, but there was no fire detected.

Jones said a fan motor in the AC unit on the roof caused smoke in the building. We were told there were no reported injuries.

The theater was back open for business before 10 p.m. Friday.

Jones said Clinton PD and the Clinton Fire Department responded between 7:30 and 7:45 p.m. for a possible electrical fire in one of the auditoriums at the United Artists Clinton Center 10, located at 201 Clinton Center Drive in Clinton.

Jones said the entire theater, more than 500 people, were evacuated.
