The severe weather systems that moved through Mississippi over the holiday weekend played a significant role in the high number of traffic crashes investigated.

A 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by 53-year-old Jerry Ross from Picayune, attempted to cross US 82 in order to reach County Road 515, and collided with the driver’s side of the Cadillac Seville.

Both Arant and Hull were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ross was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
